Inaugural Function
Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ISAE) held its 44th ISAE Annual Convention and Symposium on “Engineering Interventions for Food Security” from January 28-30, 2010 at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi organized by Water Technology Centre and Division of Agricultural Engineering and Co-sponsored by Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd., Jalgaon; NABARD, AICTE and Rajdeep Agri. Products Pvt. Ltd. On this occasion, Prof. K.V. Thomas, Honorable Minister of State for Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India was the chief guest at the inaugural function. Speaking on the occasion the chief guest highlighted the significance of Engineering and farmers friendly technologies for growth of agriculture and food security. Dr. M.M. Pandey, DDG (Engineering) who was the guest of honour, discussed the development of Agricultural Engineering and its importance for enhancing input efficiency at farm level. Er. Amar Singh, President of ISAE discussed the role of society in today’s context and its services to agriculture. Dr. T.B.S. Rajput, Project Director, WTC welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries present on the occasion. Dr. H.S. Gupta, Director, IARI and Chairman of Organizing Committee of 44th ISAE Annual Convention and Symposium touched upon many dimension of agriculture and importance of engineering for development of agriculture. Exhibition displaying the various agricultural technologies is also inaugurated by the chief guest.
